Tables have turned

Now that the whole India vs. Australia scene is past news, a new charge has come up against Brad Hogg for passing racial gestures towards MS Dhoni and the skipper captian Anil Kumble. Hogg is to be presented against the ICC board on Jan 14th, 08. Let’s see what the decision will be now.

As for the doubtful question whether India will continue the series was a question. Well not anymore, BCCI and ICC have settled on common grounds, the games will continue. As of Harbhajan Singh’s continuation is still a doubt.

All the choas between the two contries certainly is not good news. This should not have occured on the fields. When two countries of this calibre come onto the fields, the crowds expect a certain sportsmanship to be displayed. The game of cricket is followed by each and every man, woman and child of both countries. What was called a gentlemen’s game a while back, well there’s nothing gentle in it anymore.

The more the anger the better, the more the tharashing the better, and more publicity the better. No! the game of cricket needs to rediscover itself. If false decision is what caught the umpire Bucker to be removed from the game, I think for a racial remark, suspension from the game is not asking for too much.  But there needs to be some basis of decision making. An umpire cannot just ask the players of the field for the decision. It’s true that a fielder knows best about what they have been doing on the field but what are umpires for!
